Lanark Road, Edinburgh | Residential Development - Flats
Re-visiting an historical project on the same site, originally for a replacement children’s nursery, this latest iteration looks to replace the existing fire-damaged building with a development of 11no luxury 2 and 3 bedroom flats set over three levels. The design forms a simple plan whereby each property occupies a corner of the building providing dual aspect to each property, along with each having their own private terraces to enjoy the mature garden plot.
There are a variety of two and three bedroom flats as part of the development, all offering generous double bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms and large feature kitchen, living and dining spaces. All the properties are accessed off a central circulation core with stair and lift access.
Externally, the property is designed to reflect the Conservation Area in which it sits, designed to take cue from the ‘Villa Zone’ of the surrounding area. A dark textured clay brick, with protruding horizontal banding, wraps around the ground level, with smooth white render above. Feature dark green aluminium cladding, window frames and rainwater goods add a more modern aesthetic, with the colour chosen to reflect the greenery of the mature trees within the site.
