Ninety One Architects

Woodlands Terrace, Glasgow West End | Internal Alterations

Ninety One Architects were appointed to obtain planning permission, listed building consent and building warrant for our client at their A-listed apartment in the prestigious Park District in Glasgow’s west end. The design proposal aimed at reconfiguring the existing layout and redesigning the space to offer a more modern, flexible and luxurious apartment. Being an A-listed property, with the only two external walls being primary elevations, and with the client wishing to remove the existing electrical heating and hot water system with a gas-fired system, it was particularly challenging to get the planning department on side due to the need for an external flue pipe on a primary listed facade.

After much discussions with the planning authority and in fighting the case for our client, we successfully obtained planning permission and listed building consent despite such an installation being against planning policy. We worked closely with the client and the talented design team at the renowned Silverbirch Garden Centre to finalise the design, and we are thrilled with the results!
